Hey guys,

I love yellow so I decided to paint my DRL/Highbeam housings yellow (already had yellow bulbs).

I opened up my housings, painted the bezel black with plasti-dip (used to be chrome), painted the corners dark orange (used to be clear), and of course, the yellow section. What do you guys think?

by the way, yes I love my eyelids!

Looks good! How easy was it to open up the housings? I'm guessing they're sealed so did you have to bake them?

Thanks!

Yup. It wasn't that hard to open them up. I pre-heated the over at 250F. Unscrewed the only 2 screws and popped them in for exactly 7 minutes (you can leave the HID ballast/headlight leveler in). I then used a couple of screw drivers/scrapers to pry open the housings little by little and voila!

After I was done and the paint dried, I laid down a bead of clear silicone around the housing, popped them back in for 5 minutes (to soften the original sealant), then took them out and clamped them together until they dried.

I'll have to keep this in mind! I'm desperately trying to paint my Miata's housing surrounds black/black-chrome but I'm scared by the fact that if I ruin them in the process then I'm boned since new units are stupid expensive and there're none to raid from junkyards.

Love the yellow bowls! Also, have you notices a decrease in visibility at night due to the black paint?

Looks good, not feeling the eye lids though. Makes it look sleepy

Thanks! None of the light is diminished because the (stock) HIDs use the reflector, not dispersion lines on the housings. I also pointed my car at a wall and put my eyelids on top, and lighting didn't change at all!

Neat. I love yellow lights.

I put yellow bulbs in my fogs, but was disappointed when they weren't "as yellow" as I was hoping. Might have to do something similar to this.

What kind of car? I used yellow glass capsules from an LS400 (or Acura Legend) on my Supra's fogs. Looked great!
